| howdy. this is the blend of wackiness that is khord.com - welcome! click a button on the blender and take a look around... the stuff on this page is from back in 2006--circa late fall i believe (oops). not too sure if/when i'll get around to updating it. for slightly new-ish junk, visit My Space and keep up with my latest paddling excursions with the minimalistic YAKLOG and/or YAKLOG'07. in july i joined some peeps from mars hill church on a kayaking/camping trip to blake island - and a good time was had by all >:O) - i tossed up some photos here. also joined them in august for some camping + kayaking on san juan island. over labor day weekend i went camping with some co-worker peeps at moran state park on orcas island. here are some photo pages: page one | page two a bunch of random photos from paddling trips around seattle are on the pages cleverly entitled frappe and/or liquefy - along with dedicated pages for ballard & the ship canal, golden gardens, and the duwamish & harbor island. many of the other pages on this site will be archived "soon," and i'll re-organize things a tad after that. honestly, though... it's slightly easier to update my space, and i'm lazy... you do the math. oh yeah. hello, my name is rick doucette. i grew up in bellingham, wa. the fam is all up there. after about 7 years of working at a church in everett, wa, i worked as a temp/contract worker for screenlife in downtown seattle... pretty much just on their interacTV titles for fisher price. once that project wrapped up, i did a lot of work on a new game from them called Quip It. at the end of may '05 i was hired on there fulltime as a "Motion Graphic Designer." after that, i was on a set of educational titles for teachers to use in classrooms... finally escaped that project & have been working the past month or so on one of the upcoming Scene It? titles... good times... >:O) between january '05~'06 i was also helping with lake stevens family church - doing video/design/multimedia stuff. i've since phased-out of that. they're great peeps, and i'll miss 'em a lot, but it's all just more than i'd like to juggle... knowwhatimean? i'll still be helping out a bit here & there with the website + the occasional print design/direct mail postcard/newspaper ad. should only be like 3-4x/year tho'. i tend to kayak a lot... not so much in the winter [it's seattle, for the sake of pete!], but probably still more often than most sane people would... over to the right is a really old photo taken from jetty island up in everett. the green thing is my old Ocean Kayak Scupper Pro. another photo i took on that same trip served as the cover for a daily devotional booklet that i designed for that church in everett [bethany christian assembly]. once i got stuck in the tide flats off of the jetty & got an insanely-nasty sunburn. think huge blisters, swolen feet, the works. |

about 2.5 years ago i bought a little O.K. Frenzy - took that on a nice little roadtrip down along the west coast in summer of 2004. dig around here for way too much info on that trip... and lots of random photos. last august i bought a much spiffier kayak: a Tsunami 140 from Wilderness Systems. it's a keen hybrid between recreational kayaks & a touring sea kayak. it ROCKS!!! yeah... i'm big on random photos... especially when i'm out paddling alone. it's probably an ADD thing. oh well. i've only been out once so far this year - here's a silly webpage i made to say hi to my screenlife co-workers one day - ship canal 1/8/06 - i'll likely put up a bunch more kayak-ing photos someday soon. one of my co-worker peeps [who happens to be darn near my favorite dude on the planet] said it was pretty gutsy taking a camera out on a kayak. not really. it's a little waterproof digi-cam that sony made for a coupla years - fairly lo-res [2MP], but hey - it's waterproof! anywho - it's the U60 if you want to try to track one down. |

i moved just south of the zoo right at the beginning of feb'05 (moved again this march - over to west seattle - scroll down to the bottom, yo!). over to the right is an animated GIF of our family's trip to the zoo. my mom, sister, niece & nephew came down to visit last summer. well, i'll be a monkey's uncle! >:O) over to the right is an animated GIF of a monkey, my nephew Ryan, and a sign we walked past while visiting the zoo. i'm in kind of a ghetto basement studio apartment, but the location is great & the rent is uber-cheap. it's within walking distance to greenlake, downtown fremont [known by the freakmonts as "the center of the universe"], and even Mars Hill [a spiffy church i've been going to over in ballard]. it's also smack-in-the-middle of 2 downtown bus routes - one of 'em actually drops me off right in front of the building i work in. crazy stuff. i do live a safe distance from the infamous fremont troll, so i feel a small amount security in that. |

a few times a year i'll assist with various events--doing background video loop stuff. these range from ridiculously huge churchy conferences to vj-ing at little raves. yup. i'm a freak. the biggest one each year is the national Assemblies of God youth conference + fine arts festival. you can watch video clips of the last one in Denver here - scroll down to where it reads "National Youth Convention and Fine Arts Festival Rallies" i also help with the state youth + children's conferences for the A/G, along with whatever other big event my pal jerry dahlberg may invite me to do. last year i did all the pre-event promo materials for nitro [promo DVD with all sorts of junk, several print flyers & posters & what-not], but that proved to be way too much work. not doing it this year... just the visuals for the event itself. woot! one fairly large one last year was Jammin' Against the Darkness at the Key Arena right here in Seattle. in spite of the awful name, it was a pretty neat event for the kids - lots of BMX stunt bikers + skaters doing tricks n' stuff, and quite a few Sonics doing random hoop-shooting contests, etc. heck, i got to do viz for delirious to boot! if you follow the jammin' link, then jump to their seattle '05 page, then scroll down to the bottom... you'll see the big ol' 30' screen - don't be too impressed tho' - that's just a jump back from digital juice on the screen @ that moment... not one of my own loops. |

at the beginning of february of this year i moved over to west seattle. i'm liking the area a WHOLE lot - especially 'cuz i get to commute via the Elliot Bay Water Taxi. love kayaking over here too - lots of options, yo! if you'd like to join me on a paddling trip sometime, Alki Kayak Tours is right at Seacrest Park - where the Water Taxi will drop you off. woot! this year has honestly been pretty rough so far. hard to believe it's halfway thru. |
